How to prepare organic chemistry? ||Best way to prepare organic chemistry

Organic Chemistry - You'll hate it when you don't know its basic concepts and you'll LOVE it when you understand it's basics.

General Organic Chemistry must be strong for this. Once your GOC is strong you don't need to memorize reactions by cramming them. You'll just look at the reaction mechanisms and the reaction will get memorized in your head without much effort. However, you should keep on revising reactions after short periods of time as well.

some students just learn the reactions at once and then start thinking that they'll not forget them. But it's wrong . You'll soon start forgetting them. So better be regular with your revision.

Organic chemistry questions take very less time just like inorganic. If you know the answer, then you can mark it instantly. And if you don't, you'll not be able to do anything no matter how much time you give to that question. Once your organic is good, you can actually save a lot of time in the paper that'll be helpful in the physics section.

Contrary to what you may have heard, organic chemistry does not have to be a difficult course. It will be a rigorous course, and it will offer a challenge. But you will learn more in it than in almost any course you will take—and what you learn will have special relevance to life and the world around you. However, because organic chemistry can be approached in a logical and systematic way, you will find that with the right study habits, mastering organic chemistry can be a deeply satisfying experience. Here, then, are some suggestions about how to study:

First of all, the GOC is very important. It is the pillar on which the entire organic chemistry rests. Master GOC at any cost. I practiced GOC from ‘Advanced problems in Organic Chemistry’ by MS Chouhan.

Have a good visualization of the reactions. Practice a lot to create correct mechanisms on your own. To get visualization, you can look for 3D models on the internet or make your own! (Hint: Use empty refills and a piece of wire. It's fun and really helpful!)

Have knowledge of all important named reactions. That means various reactions and mechanisms mentioned in the syllabus should be studied thoroughly.

Go through the NCERT, at least once or twice.

Whenever you read about an interesting phenomenon or a new reagent, note that down in a book. That will serve as a great treasure for you. Collaborate with your friends.

Be careful with the exceptions. Organic chemistry has comparatively lesser exceptions than inorganic chemistry, but they do exist. Logic fails sometimes.

Solve past years' questions. They help a lot!

Organic Chemistry is the most fascinating branch of chemistry in Science..
To ace this topic we need to have the following criteria
  • Interest or need for study
  • Basics or fundamentals.
So, we need to have the following basics to understand organic chemistry
  1. Nomenclature.
  2. Isomerism.
  3. Reaction intermediates (C+, C-, C:etc.)
  4. Effects (Inductive, electromeric, mesmeric, etc.)
  5. Types of organic reactions.(Substitution, Elimination, Addition, Condensation & Rearrangement reactions)
Unless u have the above basics we cannot understand the concepts in organic chemistry..
Coming to the trick in organic chemistry which covers the majority of reactions, you can follow in the following way.
  1. Oxidation!
A-A-A-A four A formula
First A is Alkane
Second A is Alcohol
Third A is Aldehyde
Fourth A is Acid
So the above conversion from Alkane to Alcohol to Aldehyde to Acid can be done simple oxidation reaction in each step
Oxidizing agents are mild ones which are CrO3/MnO2
Whereas if you want to convert Alkane to Acid or Alcohol to Acid we can do strong oxidation with K2Cr2O7/KMnO4
2. Reduction!
A-A-A-A four A formula once again
Note: We can never convert acid to the aldehyde by reduction
So Aldehyde to Alcohol to Alkane can be converted in each step by mild reduction
Reducing agents can be LiAlH4/NaBH4.
Tip: For finding acidic and basic character order which is the most important part of organic...
  • donating group always decreases acidic nature and increases basic nature.
  • withdrawing group always increases acidic nature and decreases basic nature.

Tip: Identify the substitution in aromatic compounds.
Directive influence of substituents towards Electrophilic substitution follows this way.

Last valuable tips for organics chemistry:

  • Prepare short notes of what is taught in your regular classes.
  • While making notes please ensure that you are making it in a copy whose thickness is not more than 70–80 pages. Otherwise, if you use a thick one then you will procrastinate while revising it.
  • Use different colored pens. It will capture your attention on important topics.
  • Make a habit to revise it daily before sleep until and unless it gets into your subconscious mind.
  • Then after getting into your subconscious mind then you can review it once a week or a month.
  • Practice questions from different study materials you have.
  • This point if you want to refer then please do it or else discard this point. Make a chart and stick it in front of your toilet seat so that you can go through it, even when your metabolism is very low.
  • I would prefer you M. S. Chouhan for practicing organic chemistry.
I think these are the essential points which can help you to master in organic chemistry.

hope you understand the things which required for organic chemistry and now don't fear from it just do it as without it you can not get good marks and rank in any exam whether it is the board or competitive exam like neet/ IIT jee.
prepare smartly and no one can stop you to score great in your chemistry exam.

keep studying have a nice day!!
